Abstract. The article examines the specifics of the restructuring of the activities of the USSR Committee for the Arts in the first months of the Great Patriotic War. The analysis of the committee’s activities during the period indicated by the author was undertaken for the first time and is relevant, since it reveals the main activities of theater groups during the difficult period of the retreat of the Red Army troops, when the need for spiritual support for war veterans was the primary task facing all creative collectives of the country/
The purpose of the study was to study the materials of the Russian State Archive for the Arts, namely the orders and orders issued in the period June-August 1941, revealing the work of the All-Union Committee for the Arts in the most difficult months of the Great Patriotic War. These materials made it possible to reveal the specifics of the restructuring of the staff of the Committee for the Arts, the main activities of the committee’s staff, changes in the entire theatrical sphere (tours, repertoire directions, etc.). The author applied a chronological method, revealing virtually every day of the work of the All-Union Committee for the Arts in the first weeks of the war, which made it possible to unequivocally declare the unexpected nature of military operations on the part of Germany, which treacherously attacked the Soviet Union/
The work uses an integrated approach that combines the source analysis of the materials of the 962 foundation, as well as individual scientific articles. With the help of a system analysis, the main directions in the work of the All-Union Committee for the Arts in the first months of the Great Patriotic War were identified. In conclusion, the author comes to the conclusion about the undoubted importance of the actions of the All-Union Committee for the Arts, which, thanks to its efficiency, ensured the restructuring of the theater area in a short period of time, facilitated the rapid organization of work on the maintenance of recruiting stations and military units by creative workers, who, thanks to new concert programs and performances on patriotic themes, helped strengthen the faith of Soviet soldiers in their An invincible Homeland.
