Vernadsky is a leading Russian historian, one of the theorists of Eurasianism \u2014 an original socio-philosophical, ideological and political movement that formed in the 1920s among the first wave of forced emigration of the Russian intelligentsia. One of the key themes in Eurasianism was the history and fate of Russia, and his main historical work was “Outline of Russian History”. According to the general opinion of researchers, the task of a comprehensive study of the scientist’s extensive legacy remains relevant. His early work, devoted to the history of the development of Siberia, is of great interest. Questions about the nature and significance of Siberia’s colonization to Russia occupied a special place not only in historical science, but also in socio\u2013political discourse. Addressing this topic was a conscious choice by Vernadsky. His early work has not lost its significance not only for Siberian, but also for Russian historiography in general. This significance is also determined by the fact that already in the first articles “On the Movement of Russians to the East” (1913), “Against the Sun. The Spread of the Russian State to the East” (1914), “The Sovereign’s Service and Industrial People in Eastern Siberia of the 17th Century” (1915) Vernadskiy formulated provisions that were developed in his studies in exile and became part of the historical and geopolitical doctrine of Eurasianism. This article examines the concept of the development of Siberia in the 16th-17th centuries in Vernadsky’s early work, concretization of theoretical provisions and a new geopolitical approach to history. Vernadsky not only expanded ideas about the history of the development of Siberia as a process of colonization.
