Abstract. <\/strong>Over the past two decades, the study of the rich, original cultural heritage of Siberia has become one of the strategic tasks of ethnography and local history, solving the most important issues of cultural self-identification of the region and the preservation of historical memory. To date, an extensive body of scientific works of an interdisciplinary nature devoted to the many-faced culture of Siberia has already been accumulated. A number of issues related to the theoretical and practical aspects of the existence of folklore traditions (including those that developed in the process of “secondary” localization,) still not fell into the focus of specialists.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This article contains the results of a historical and ethnographic study of the village of Karay and the village of Kardoy, Bratsk District, Irkutsk Region, materials of a folklore expedition to this area, implemented at in the early 2000s, are being introduced into scientific use. Based on the systematization of disparate sources and archival materials, the authors of the work reconstruct factual information about the area of   local tradition. The undertaken historical and cultural excursion made it possible to partially replenish the lost ethnographic context of the functioning of the song tradition, the deciphered samples of which are presented in the article. The results of the study help to comprehend the historical and cultural processes, complement the unique “ethnolandschaft” of Siberia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
