Abstract<\/strong>. The article deals with the formation and development of physical culture and sports infrastructure from the end of the 19th century to 1985 in the Angara region. The history of the development of sports facilities dates back to the construction of the first circus arena in Irkutsk, which hosted spectacular mass sports events in wrestling, gymnastics, weight lifting, etc. In the future, a significant event for the inhabitants of the region was the construction in 1983 of the first sports facility in Irkutsk – the cycle track “Cyclodrom”. It is told about the history of such significant sports facilities in the Angara region as the stadiums “Trud”, “Lokomotiv”, “Dynamo”. Interrelations of the influence of socio-economic and political phenomena in the country are revealed: such as the October Revolution of 1917, the Great Patriotic War, the rise of the economy of the Irkutsk region in the 1960s. etc. for the construction, repair and operation of stadiums in the region. The role and importance of the personalities of leaders and sports enthusiasts such as: A.I. Shumikhin, P.I. Shikhanov, S.V. Gusev, G.A. Konstantinov and others in the organization of work on the construction and repair of the base of sports facilities in the region. On the basis of archival data, the author compiled and included in the article tables of statistical indicators, which reflect the dynamics of the construction of stadiums, sports grounds, ski resorts, etc. The creation of an extensive base of sports facilities further contributed to the successful development of physical culture and sports in the Angara region. The article is accompanied by unique illustrations that successfully complement the text material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
