Abstract. <\/strong>This article is devoted to the consideration of video games, whose plot unfolds in the context of the historical Renaissance and refers to its artistic culture. A study of the video game market of the last two decades has shown that there are few products related to the time in question, and there is practically no representation of the art of the era. The exception is the series of games \u2014 \u00abAssassin\u2019s Creed\u00bb, in which the chosen era is meticulously recreated. The popularity of this video game is due not only to the chosen genre of action adventure, but also to the thoroughness of the setting. The use of a huge number of references to real-life works of Renaissance architecture made it possible to distinguish this product from the background of other reconstructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A comparative analysis of real works of architecture with their game counterparts revealed elements of a postmodern vision in a modern video game and showed how an essentially entertaining product is capable of forming a cognitive interest in the history and culture of the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
