Siberian Journal of Anthropology is a periodical printed source that publishes original articles, translations, reviews and other materials corresponding to the highest requirements for scientific publications of both Russian and foreign scientists. The journal specializes in jurisprudential, historical and culturological problems.

The journal is published every quarter (four times a year).

The purpose of the journal: contributing to the development of science of Siberia in the fields of legal, socio-cultural, culturological and philosophical anthropology. Special attention is paid to scientific studies with regard to the legal aspects of traditional and modern cultures, practices of social and legal assistance to the population, diagnostics of the regions of the North, Siberia and the Far East of the Russian Federation. 

Our audience

The journal is oriented to an academic audience, a university community and scientists interested in the discussion of a wide range of questions (historical, political, legal, economic, linguistic, socio-cultural, etc.) associated, among other things, with the study of the historical past and the present condition of the regions of the North, Siberia and the Far East.

The journal is included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific publications. We encourage researchers to submit manuscripts, which reflect the main scientific results of dissertations for a degree of Candidate of Science, for a degree of Doctor of Science (list of the Higher Attestation Commission). № 1903 dated 10.15.2019.

Evaluation of the article

All articles are subject to a double-blind peer review process and must meet academic quality standards. If approved by the editor, papers will be reviewed by reviewers whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.

The journal team may seek advice beyond standard peer review, for example, on submissions related to ethical issues. We may consult with peer reviewers before deciding on appropriate action, including evaluation by additional editors and rejection of further submissions.

Originality and plagiarism

Ethical standards for publications are needed to guarantee the high quality of scientific publications and the public’s trust in scientific research.

Should be avoided:

• Fabrication and falsification of data: Fabrication of data means that the researcher did not do any work and made up the data. Data falsification means that the researcher performed an experiment but then changed some of the data. Both of these actions undermine people’s trust in scientists.
• Plagiarism: Using other people’s ideas and work without giving them credit is unfair and unjust. Copying at least one sentence from another’s manuscript or even your own from a previously published manuscript without citation is considered plagiarism – convey the meaning in your own words. Articles with an originality of more than 85% in the Anti-Plagiarism system will be accepted for consideration. All citations used must have correct references.
• Submission to multiple journals: It is unethical to submit one manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Such actions take up the time of editors and reviewers and can damage the reputation of journals if the manuscript is published in more than one scientific journal.
• Duplicate publications: means publishing similar manuscripts based on the same experiment. This will cause readers to overlook your manuscripts.
• Misattribution: All authors listed must have made a significant scientific contribution to the study. Be sure to list everyone who made a significant scientific contribution, including students and lab technicians.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism by other authors will be rejected. Any published articles may need correction or feedback.

The manuscript is submitted to the editorial board by email to the journal manager’s address: sibanjo@yandex.ru, Smolina Maya Gavrilovna, with the subject line “Siberian Journal of Anthropology”.

The electronic version of the article must be prepared in Microsoft Word. The text of the article is placed on an A4 page using Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Portrait orientation with 2.5 cm margins on all sides and mandatory page numbering. It should be sent to the editorial office in two separate files:

1. title page, text of the article (including references)
2. reference list for RSCI (Russian Science Citation Index) File names must begin with the author’s surname and initials in Cyrillic, followed by the note “article” (“статья”) / “reference list” (“список литературы”).

ATTENTION:

1. No more than 1 article by an author (co-author) is published in a single issue of the journal.
2. One author (co-author) of an article can have no more than 1 affiliation. With written justification sent to the editorial office’s email address, a 2nd affiliation may be added as an exception, provided the editorial board considers the arguments for the second affiliation to be substantial. (These additions come into effect for articles planned for publication starting from issue 3 of 2024).
3. All authors (co-authors) must individually conclude and send copyright license agreements to the editorial office. Materials will not be published without these agreements on file with the editorial board.

Title Page Requirements

The title page must indicate:

1. UDC
2. Title of the article in Russian
3. Full surnames, first names, and patronymics of each author, in Russian.
4. Full name of all organizations the authors are affiliated with in Russian, position, city and country, ORCID ID, email address.
5. Abstract in Russian. The abstract is a brief but at the same time highly informative summary of the scientific publication. The length of the abstract must be at least 1500 characters. It should briefly outline the background and objectives of the study, the main methods (including study design, sampling, and key analytical methods), the main results (with their numerical expression and levels of statistical significance), and the main conclusions. New and important aspects of the study should be highlighted.

Article Text Requirements:

The article must be structured. Recommended article structure:

· Problem statement, aim of the article, review of scientific literature on the problem

· Methodology (materials and methods)

· Research results, discussion · Conclusion (conclusions in accordance with the aim of the article, author’s contribution).

Recommended length of the article text is from 20,000 to 40,000 characters (including spaces).

A mandatory element of the article text is the “Список литературы” / References.

Reference lists (References) are provided in two formats:

1. In APA Style. In the original language of the sources (for English-language publications) and transliterated into the Latin alphabet with an English translation of the publication sources (for non-English sources). Do not forget to provide the English translation of the work/journal title in square brackets. Initials are written after the surname and separated from the surname by a comma.
2. Additionally, the same list of sources is compiled for subsequent placement of the publication in the RSCI: Russian-language sources are written in Cyrillic, and English-language sources in Latin letters. All references to sources (print and electronic) must be arranged strictly in alphabetical order.

In the works of researchers N. A. Nepomnyashchikh (Nepomnjashhih, 2014), E. T. Chamzyryn (Chamzyryn, 2010), A. L. Kosheleva (Kosheleva, 2010), Yu. G. Khazankovich (Khazankovich, 2014), the folk-poetic and mythological origins of Siberian fiction in specific works are examined. It is rather difficult to draw a boundary between a fairy tale, in particular a magical one, and an epic (Voskobojnnikov, 1973: 13).

Tables are included in the text of the article, and must have a title and numbering. There must be a reference to the table in the text of the article.
