Abstract. Postcolonialism is a phenomenon that emerged in the 20th century amid the debunking of the colonial paradigm and the deconstruction of the realities inherent in colonialism. The colonial past, as a phenomenon that profoundly influenced dependent countries, demanded reflection and a series of specific actions aimed at restoring the image of dependent peoples in both internal and external contexts of perception.This article examines the process of constructing the image of a mystical East in India in the second half of the 20th century as an element of a postcolonial project aimed at restoring Indian national identity within the context of cultural and historical research, identifying the interconnections between the disparate processes of science, religion, and art in India during this period.
