The memories of the screenwriter, head of the Krasnoyarsk film Studio A. A. Mikhailov as the source for the history of regional documentary film

Abstract. The article is devoted to understanding and generalizing the previously unexplored historical experience of regional non-fiction cinema in 1982-1991. The lack of theoretical development of the available empirical material is a reason for the study of the historical question. The scientific material is based on the memoirs of the Chairman of the regional branch of the Union of cinematographers of the Krasnoyarsk territory by A. A. Mikhailov, the first artistic director, screenwriter and director of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Sverdlovsk film Studio, publications of regional and city socio-political newspapers in the region and analysis of two key films that illustrate two historical milestones of the Studio’s existence. In the early 80’s, the Siberian experimental workshop-Krasnoyarsk creative Association of documentary films of the Sverdlovsk film Studio-became a film workshop for many graduates of the all-Russian state Institute of cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov. The historical value and exclusivity of documentary filmmaking in the Krasnoyarsk region, a phenomenon of the Krasnoyarsk film Studio of those years, are due to the ability of Siberian Directors to create within the framework of a pure documentary genre for some time. The team of the branch and the characters of their films are people who were brought up by life, an era of loss, godlessness, overcoming, loss and creating spirituality. Some of them are war children, orphans born in the 40s and 60s, who know the price of life, who have seen the world in all its realities, which is why the courage, sincerity and authenticity of documentary films by Krasnoyarsk directors from the late 80’s and early 90’s is due.
