Abstract. This review article examines the ways in which cultural memory manifests in various cultural forms. This understanding of cultural forms is based on the definition of the renowned Russian cultural theorist A. Ya. Flier, who viewed them as a set of visual attributes and characteristics of any cultural object or phenomenon, reflecting the functionality and symbolic meaning of these forms. Works of art that can influence a person on a psycho-emotional level represent a special type of cultural form. For clarity, the ways in which cultural memory manifests were examined using the examples of mass media and works of art. The former primarily illuminate reality and provide a more objective image of the past in retrospect, while the latter create a primarily fictional world, reinterpreting the past. They employ different approaches and tools for producing and reproducing cultural memory, and they influence individual and societal perceptions in different ways. These approaches can be used to explore the various ways in which cultural memory manifests.
