Abstract. The review of the study «Arctic. Geopolitics and Autonomy» (edited by Michael Bravo and Nicola Triscott, Hatje Cantz, 2011, 116 p.). The study is written by the international team of scientist from the leading universities (University of Westminster, University of Cambridge, The University of Melbourne, University of Lapland) and organizations involved in studying and producing of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic culture – Michael Bravo, Nicola Triscott, Katarina Soukup, David Turnbull и Lassi Heininen. There are some contemporary international approaches in humanitarian science to the Arctic studies presented in the monography. There are also some analysis of the contemporary art pieces, which reflects resource, industrial, technological and military developing of the Arctic are given. The contemporary state of the developing of the XXI century’s technologies in Igloolik in the Arctic part of Canada is discussed in the monography. The activity of unique Inuit media art center Isuma production and the oeuvre of the director Zacharias Kunuk are observed. There are also contemporary scientific theories of the Alaska settlement in Prehistoric time are presented and some precedents of the uniting of the indigenous peoples of the North in influential politic organizations which opinios matter on the international level are described. The study will be useful for scientists in different fields, who specialize in Arctic, Northern and Indigenous studies, for managers who involved in the management of the Northern territories, for cultural managers and producers who engaged in the process of commercialization and promotion of the fine and applied arts of indigenous peoples. ​
