ARCTIC EXPLORER B.A. VILKITSKY’S PROFESSIONAL PATH DURING THE REVOLUTION AND CIVIL WAR

Abstract. B.A. Vilkitsky’s research, is the starting point for the active development and economic exploitation of the Northern Sea Route. The article presents an analysis of the events that occurred to Vilkitsky, on the way to the development of the North, during the years of acute political instability in the country. The events are presented in chronological order, from October 1917 to February 1920. This periodisation represents the researcher’s most accurate professional path, reflecting his episodes under Soviet command and his activities within the White Movement. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the economic development of the North and Siberia as well as foreign trade became one of the most important points in the policies, first of the heads of the White Movement and later of the Soviet power.
