Abstract. Introduced to the scientific community for the first time, a selection of diaries kept by instructors of the Executive Committee of Governorate Peasantry’s Deputies Council significantly increases the number of available sources for studying peasantry’s mood and political situation in Siberian Province in the autumn of 1917. The instructors were sent by the Executive Committee to prepare peasantry for election of the Constituent Assembly. They called village gatherings where they were explaining the Constituent Assembly election technology and its importance to attendees, as well as compared political parties, agitated to vote for the SR’s Party and create councils of peasantry’s deputies together with socio-political organizations. In their dairies, the instructors recorded peasants’ mood, issues discussed at gatherings, made decisions and resolutions. The documents published herein are the evidence of high discrepancy and inconsistency of peasants’ ideas, their low level of political awareness, ephemerality of any party’s influence, villagers’ distrust both to city and countryside intellectuals. Moreover, the diaries echo world view of parties’ employees, their feelings, emotions, and worries.
