Abstract. In the review of the monograph by Sarah Badcock A Prison without Walls? Eastern Siberian Exile in the Last Years of Tsarism examines the main methodological approaches of the author to the consideration of Siberian exile in the context of socio-political processes in the Russian Empire, 1905-1917. The reported study was funded by Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Government of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Krasnoyarsk Region Science and Technology Support Fund to the research project № 16-11-24009.
