DEVELOPMENT OF THE NORTH OF YENISEI THROUGH RESOLUTIONS OF KRASNOYARSK KRAI COMMITTEE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF THE SOVIET UNION 1940-1971

Abstract. Formation and development of the northern territories of Krasnoyarsk Krai between the years of 1940 to 1971 are shown in the paper. A specific historical approach was employed in the paper, thus allowing to place a specific model of the local community within the context of the Soviet history of the 20th century.  Based on the material of the State Archive of Krasnoyarsk Krai, namely on resolutions of Krasnoyarsk Krai Committee of the CPSU, the strategy of development of the North of Yenisei is analyzed, which was not original and was taking instructions from the Centre.  Within the time frame analyzed, depending on the principles and the progress rate of modernization of the country’s economy, the northerners’ traditional farming was being reorganized, the whole set of the people’s trades was being altered. An attempt was made to form commodity production based on furs and fish harvesting.  At that, sociocultural realia of certain territories were hardly taken into consideration.  The process of industrialization and reorganization of traditional farming on economic lines was accompanied by revolutionizing of all the aspects of social and private life of a reindeer herding nomad, and led to abandoning of traditional culture.
