ALL-RUSSIAN CONFERENCE «LANGUAGE OF THE NORTH»

Abstract. The purpose of the publication is to provide an analytical review of scientific reports that were discussed in March 2020 at the Russian National Library named after V.I. M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin. The choice was made in favor of the most significant or debatable speeches. The principles of interdisciplinarity and consistency made it possible to present the multifaceted nature of the stated topic. The held event brought a layer of new approaches to the solution of the problem of preserving the culture and language of the indigenous peoples of the North: the expediency of creating an electronic bank of languages of indigenous peoples, the systematic study of the self-consciousness of aborigines by modern ethnographers, the training of translators ready to work with the languages of the northerners, etc. Problems emerged during the conference. , requiring a systematic and complex study by historians, ethnographers, linguists, so that the cultural and educational policy of the Russian Federation in relation to the peoples of the North is more effective and targeted.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers, including historians, culturologists, linguists, workers of archives and museums of the country.
