Abstract. The article provides a review and presents the framework developed by S. Breathnach and T. Margaria. It explores new approaches to integrating artificial intelligence and information technology into the humanities with the aim of preserving and analyzing cultural heritage. Emphasis is placed on the importance of applying these concepts to improve access to cultural data, ensure its preservation, and facilitate analytical research within both global and local studies. The historical context addresses more than 40 years of digitization and its impact on the humanities. The digitization of handwritten and printed documents has led to a “digital abundance” of data, which, in turn, has introduced new challenges for data processing and organization. The methodology discussion includes large language models that enable the classification and coding of historical data, helping to address issues related to unequal access to healthcare across different population groups. In conclusion, the article highlights the significance of an interdisciplinary approach in research and in addressing social issues. The approach described opens new perspectives for research in digital humanities and demonstrates the potential of using artificial intelligence and information technology in the field of cultural heritage.
