RESEARCH APPROACHES TO DIGITAL CULTURAL RESEARCH: ANALYTICAL REVIEW

Abstract. Due to the rapid development of digital technologies, their influence extends to all areas of human life. Digital cultural research is of particular interest to the cultural sector. Due to the fact that this area of cultural studies is quite new, it is important to monitor its growth trends. The purpose of this study was to, based on an analytical review of scientific works carried out within the framework of digital cultural research, determine the approaches used to implement this type of research and the degree of demand for this area for cultural research. Articles devoted to various aspects of digital cultural studies and published between 2017 and 2023 were taken as sources for analysis. The method used to conduct this study was qualitative content analysis. As a result of the study, the relevance of the use of digital cultural research is substantiated, the theoretical aspect of digital culture related to the content of the concept of “digital culture” and its characteristics is considered, methods for studying digital culture, various digital technologies used to preserve culture (museumification, GIS technologies, processing images, etc.) and are an integral part of the process of implementing digital cultural research.
