The study of works of traditional art of various directions at all times in the field of cultural studies and art history has been relevant and necessary. Today, inventions in the field of digital technologies and virtual reality, as well as artificial intelligence, are used for more productive and large-scale research of art. The purpose of the article is to analyze the author’s methods of traditional art research and to form a general attitude of the modern cultural community to the problems of digital study of traditional art. The main methods of data collection and processing in the article are analysis, classification, synthesis, systematization. As a result of working with the found sources, the following groups of author’s methods of traditional art research were identified and formed: preservation and study of works of art using photography; presentation of traditional works of art in a digital environment; application of digital technologies in the study of works of art; digital recreation; mathematical and statistical research methods. As a result of studying articles by Russian and foreign authors on the topic of traditional art research using digital technologies and research of author’s methods, it is concluded that the cultural and scientific community is concerned about the preservation and modernization of world art. The compilation and use of digital databases and online classifiers for general user access is in great demand, and one of the most important modern tools is artificial intelligence, which is necessary in comparing and classifying works of art according to various characteristics. To preserve the relevance of works of traditional art, figures in the field of digital technologies cooperate with cultural figures and offer the latest developments. The works themselves move away from their bodily and dimensional form into a digital form, which makes it possible for cultural objects to live forever.
