Abstract. Modern society, including young people, today are at the center of huge information flows coming from the most demanded source for the majority — the Internet. The Internet offers users different points of view on the same issue. Digital formats for presenting information can also be radically different from each other, but they are all available and open to users. In this regard, it is relevant to study the picture of the world that modern youth has regarding one of the controversial and widely discussed issues — Islam. The purpose of the research is to analyze the semantic field that is developing in the minds of modern youth in Krasnoyarsk regarding the concept of «Islam». The main research method was an associative experiment carried out among young people through digital technologies and which made it possible to collect a certain range of concepts that reflect the respondents’ attitude to Islam. As a result of the research, the author identifies separate semantic groups related to the concept of «Islam». The most numerous was the group of words reflecting the respondents’ neutral attitude to Islam. There is also a significant percentage of survey participants who think negatively about Islam. This percentage of respondents expressed such associations that made up a semantic block of negatively-colored words. Among them is terrorism, violence, danger. In conclusion, the author suggests possible ways to solve the problem of misunderstanding, detachment and negative opinion among modern youth about Islam and adherents — Muslims. Among the measures, it is proposed to develop a system of religious education and the practice of teaching the younger generation to tolerance not only in relation to Islam, but also to representatives of other races, nationalities, ethnic groups.
