Abstract. Post-Internet is one of the ways of understanding contemporary art that emerged in the late 2000s as an attempt by a number of artists to formulate the changes in their practices that are associated not so much with the emergence of digital technologies as with their transformation into part of everyday life. Such “normalization” of new technologies inevitably entails the need to rethink approaches to the analysis of the existing socio-cultural landscape. An appeal to the practices of mixing the virtual and the real, the past and the present in the project “Hirngespenster at The Kunstverein Braunschweig” by E. N. Wilson allows us to demonstrate some features of the transformation of hyperreal spaces in contemporary culture. “Taking over” the villa “Salve Hospes”, the artist creates an interesting form of post-media art, in which the media as a material object dissolves, striving to become a transparent environment for communication between real and imaginary agents. This specific form of “empty” hyperreal space reflects the logic of interaction between the “digital” and the “real”, which are no longer parallel forms of cultural practices, but merge with each other, becoming only separate moments in such transparent communicative spaces. The fusion of the digital and the real is a significant problem of modern social and humanitarian theory, one of the tasks of which is the development of a new language of description that takes into account the changed ontology of socio-technical systems.
